speeding over events until munnar

our next stop after kannur was Kochin, home of an ancient jewish settlement. this is a very iald back town, where we hanged out for 4 days. in the fish market along the shore, fresh fish, just caught in the chinese nets are being sold. restaurants around this market have the slogan = you buy, we cook. pricey (30 NIS) but yummy.

The definite highlight of our time in Kochin was the Kathakali show we went to. this special "touristy" show is designed specifically for the enjoyment of tourist, because the "real" thing is about 4-6 hours long!

(full details on kochi and allepy in www.aviadr1.blogspot.com)

the next day we left kochi we a guided tour to the wildlife sanctuaries near the Munnar hill-station.

Tea plantations around munnar. the view on the way was simply spectacular...

on the 2nd (of 3 days) of the wildlife tour, we took a jeep before sunrise to look for animals. suddenly we (actually benny our guide) spotted a band of 4 elephants, including a small baby! the elephant seen here is wild and very dangerous. it had no problem to charge at the jeep and if we had not moved, it would not flinch at sitting on the jeep and hitting it furiously... after many stories about how wild and dangerous elephants are, we saw their fury with our own eyes! the elephant seen here is actually less than 10 meters away from us - remember, our cameras has no real zoom...

our tree house, where we spent our second night. it was really exciting to sleep with bird sounds all around us. but alas, no animal came near... Posted by Picasa
